It’s Who We Are

Dr. Danielle Shahan, SLP.D, CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist
Owner/Director

A speech-language pathologist since 1999. After working for years in private practice, school, and hospital settings, she decided to open her first clinic in Vacaville to grow a multidisciplinary team and serve more families in the local community. After quickly outgrowing her first clinic, she moved her practice to its current location on Vaca Valley Parkway. Shine Therapy Center has grown and now offers many pediatric services and disciplines in one clinical space. “Shine,” as our clients call us, has a family feel.

We are proud to offer high-quality services in all areas with an emphasis on involving caregivers, families, and community partners in a multidisciplinary model, allowing specialists to work together for stronger growth for our patients. We love using our multiple gyms and treatment rooms to individualize treatments to the needs of our clients, using both play-based and structured treatments, as appropriate. Families are routinely involved in care, and we know that the support we provide children is vital to their growth and development. We are happy to serve your families as if they were our own, and believe it shows in everything we do.

Dr. Shahan has a doctoral degree in speech-language pathology and has worked since 1999 as a speech-language pathologist in private practice, school, and hospital settings and as a clinical instructor of graduate students at California State University, Sacramento. She has presented professionally at multiple national and state-level conferences, completed evaluations and designed treatment programs nationally, having been licensed in five states. In addition, Dr. Shahan presents to professionals, university groups, and parents on many topics, including the evaluation and treatment of speech, language, feeding, and orofacial myofunctinal disorders in pediatrics, social pragmatic skills, working with school teams for improved inclusive practices and service provision, the use of accommodations and modifications, and obtaining appropriate services for students with complex learning needs.

Dr. Shahan has extensive experience in the evaluation and treatment of clients diagnosed with: autism spectrum disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other mild to severe genetic and developmental disabilities. She holds advanced/specialized training in autism spectrum disorders, behavioral and sensory techniques, PECS, AAC, motor-speech techniques, PROMPT, feeding, orofacial myofunctional therapy, oral placement therapy, multiple disabilities, and accent modification. She is certified in the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM). In addition, Dr. Shahan has completed advanced training in special education law, consulting, and advocacy for students with special needs.
