Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy

Assessment and treatment

Assessment and treatment of orofacial myofunctional disorders, or dysfunctions of oral and facial structures with therapies for improving proper oral resting posture, swallow patterns, feeding skills, airway/sleep health, nasal breathing, damaging oral habits including clenching and grinding of teeth, malocclusions and TMJ problems. This includes the determination of the existence of restricting tethered oral tissues such as tongue ties, lip ties, and cheek ties and recommendations for release providers when surgical releases are necessary.

Dysfunctions of oral and facial structures

These therapies are also helpful in preventing relapse after orthodontic treatment, and we can assist families in finding quality community resources for associated treatments, including dental and orthodontic providers, as well as manual therapies, including craniosacral and visceral therapies, which are often recommended pre- and post-surgery as well as the orofacial myofunctional therapy we provide.
